What is Medulla Oblongata
The Medulla oblongata is the lower half of the brainstem. The Medulla Oblongata restrains the cardiac, respiratory, vomiting and vasomotor centers and deals with autonomic functions, such as breathing, heart rate and blood pressure. Damage to the medulla oblongata can be disastrous, as the patient will be ineffective to breathe, swallow, or perform other basic motor occasion without assistance.
The kind of drugs and medications can cause effect in the function of the medulla oblongata, which can sometimes result in physical states which correspond death.
Function of Medulla Oblongata
Respiration —– chemo receptors
Cardiac center —– sympathetic, parasympathetic system
Vasomotor center—- baroreceptors
Reflex centers of vomiting, coughing, sneezing, and swallowing

Anterior spinal artery
Posterior inferior cerebellar artery (PICA)
Direct branches of the vertebral artery
