Transducers and Sensors
What are Transducers
Transducers are device that converts one type of energy to another. The conversion can be to/from electrical, electro-mechanical, electromagnetic, photonic, photovoltaic, or any other form of energy. Transducers that detect or transmit information include common items such as microphones, Geiger meters, potentiometers, pressure sensors, thermometers, and antennae. While the term transducer commonly implies use as a sensor/detector, any device which converts energy can be considered a transducer.
What is Sensors
The sensor is a device that evaluates a physical quantity and change it into a signal which can be read by a commentator or by an instrument. Sensors are utilize in everyday target such as touch-sensitive elevator buttons (tactile sensor) and lamps which dim or darken by touching the base
A good sensor obeys the following rules:
Is sensitive to the measured property
Is insensitive to any other property likely to be find in its application
Does not determine the measured property
Potential applications of sensor networks include:
Video surveillance
Monitoring of weather conditions
Industrial automation
Automated and smart homes
Medical device monitoring
Air traffic control
Traffic monitoring
Robot control
