Natural killer cells are Also Known by the name of NK Cells. The NK Cells are a type of cytotoxic lymphocyte that constitutes a major component of the innate immune system. The Natural killer cells lay a major function in the rejection of tumors and cells infected by viruses which are determine as large granular lymphocytes (LGL) and appoint the third kind of cells separate from the common lymphoid progenitor generating B and T lymphocytes.
Natural killer cells activity is tightly regulated. NK cells must receive an activating signal, which can come in a variety of forms, the most important of which are identifying below.
