What are Sentencing Guidelines?
Sentencing Guidelines Council’s role is to encourage consistency of sentencing in all courts in England and Wales, endorse judges and magistrates in their decision-making. It is a separate body with both judicial and non-judicial members, chaired by the Lord Chief Justice.

Sentencing Guidelines Commission symbolize the goals of the criminal justice system as celebrate by the citizens of our state through their no appointive representatives. This system encourage uniform and proportional sentences for convicted felons and assist to ensure that sentencing decisions are not influenced by factors such as race, gender, or the exercise of constitutional rights by the defendant.

The guidelines serve as a model for the criminal justice system as a completely to aspire to, as well as allow for a standard to measure how well the system is working.
