Cyclothymic Disorder is a chronic bipolar disorder exists of short period of time of mild depression and short periods of hypomania. The individual with cyclothymic disorder, similar the person with bipolar disorder, has alternating division of low mood and high mood. The onset is dividing by short period of time of normal mood. Individuals with cyclothymia are separate ever completely free of symptoms of either depression or hypomania for more than a number of months at a time

Symptoms
Alternating episodes of hypomania and mild depression lasting for at least 2 years
Patients tend to be more irritable or dark, rather than euphoric or happy
Persistent symptoms (less than 2 symptom-free months in a row)

Cause:
Genetic factors appear to be causative in Cyclothymia as they do in the Bipolar Disorders.
Many of those affected have a family history of major depression, bipolar disorder, and suicide or alcohol/drug dependence.
