Implant Dentistry

Implant Dentistry
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root used in dentistry to support acquisitions that resemble a tooth or group of teeth. People miss teeth all the time, either through when teeth are knocked out or due to decay, gum disease or old age. In addition to bringing about unwanted changes to a person’s facial appearance, missing teeth have a negative effect on that person’s confidence and self-esteem. The most common treatments for missing teeth are either a denture or a fixed bridge.

What are Dental Implants?
Dental implants are a restorative dentistry choice that provides patients to substitute missing teeth with 1s that look, feel, and perform like their own. During the 1st step of this procedure, a doctor experienced in implant dentistry surgically places a titanium screw or post in the patient’s jaw. After the gums have cured around the embedded post, a replacement tooth is joined to the top of it.

How many teeth can a dental implant support?
Traditionally, an implant placed into your bone supports a single crown and this is know as a “single tooth implant”. One implant can support various teeth via a denture. The number of implants demanded depends on the volume and density of bone tissue available at each implant site. Often, smaller-sized “mini implants” are used to secure dentures in place.
