Development directors are literally responsible for growing relationships for their parent organizations. A development director is the senior financial officer of an organization, company. The position is comparable to a chief financial officer (CFO) or treasurer. The development director also has to think about the most efficient and effective way to apply funds, and to balance the public image of the company at the same time.
What Does a Development Director Do?
The term “development director” is used to refer to a chief financial officer. A person who works as a development director generally has a degree in finance, public relations, or communications, and may have wide experience with nonprofits, including experience as an assistant to a development director. The job of a development director can be a complicated one.
Responsibilities of Development director is:
Writing solicitation and acknowledgement letters;
Planning and organizing donor recognition events;
Overseeing the Forum’s membership program;
Preparing grant proposals;
Soliciting current and prospective donors;
Communicating with donors on a timely and regular basis;
Planning and organizing fundraising events;
Planning and carrying out efforts to renew gifts from current donors;
Identifying new prospects; planning and implementing efforts to cultivate and solicit them;
