Pontoon Bridge
What is a Pontoon Bridge?
Pontoon bridges are floating bridges supported by floating pontoons with enough buoyancy to support the bridge and dynamic loads. Permanent floating bridges are useful for furnished water-crossings where it is not considered economically feasible to suspend a bridge from fastened piers. When pontoon bridges are generally temporary structures, some are used for long periods of time.
Submerged floating-tube bridges have been considered for use throughout ocean straits and even across entire oceans. Pontoon bridges are particularly useful in wartime as river crossings. Such bridges are commonly temporary, and are sometimes destroyed after crossing and carried. Floating bridge, used primarily but not constantly for military purposes.
