I’ve switched from a contract to a prepaid cell phone because I wanted to cut my cell phone costs ‘to the bone’ and I wanted control over how much I spend and I did not want to have any surprises on my monthly accounts. I am now using the Net 10 prepaid package, $15.00 service fee per month, 10c a minute, texting 2.5c ea, and 15c / minute for international calls. Since I only make a few short calls a day this package is ideal to keep my costs at their lowest.

I went for Tracfone as they are the biggest prepaid carrier in the US and they have national coverage with no roaming fees. I got a stunning Samsung finesse smartphone with all the bells and whistles and when I buy my airtime I get “double minutes for life” which means I get double the amount of time than I paid for…and the bigger the bundle I buy the cheaper the call rate per minute becomes!
