Praying Mantids are predacious insects that live in affectionate fields. Mantids undergo simple metabolism; throughout early life stages, they look like small, wingless adults. Praying Mantids take flies, aphids, moths, butterflies, and lots of other worms. They acquire their prey with their strong, altered front legs. Praying Mantids are practicable in gardens, since they assure the worm population. They will only take live worms.
Identifying Features of Praying Mantis
Three distinct body parts: head, chest, belly. Part of the chest is stretched to produce a distinctive ‘neck’. Front legs changed as raptorial graspers with strong points for catching and agreeing creature. Big combine eyes on the head which motions freely around and three simple eyes amongst the combine eyes. Incomplete or simple metabolism.
