What is dental sealants and how we apply it?
Dental sealants are a dental treatment comprising of applying a plastic material to one or more teeth, for the meant purpose of keeping dental caries (cavities) or other forms of tooth decay. A dental sealant is a plastic coating applied to the feeding surfaces of back teeth. Dental sealants and composites play a significant role in preventing tooth decay and in maintaining dental health. Dental sealants are plastic coatings that are usually placed on the chewing (occlusal) surface of the permanent back teeth the molars and premolars to help protect them from decay. If a tooth already has a filling, then it does not get a dental sealant.

Applying process
First – The tooth is etched with a mild acid to create retention for the sealant, and then rinsed and air dried.
Second – The liquid sealant is painted into the grooves of the teeth.
Third – A high intensity light is used to activate the liquid plastic to harden.
