Chancery Court
Chancery Court
The Court of Chancery was a court of interest in England and Wales that complied a set of loose rules to avoid the slow pace of change and possible harshness of the common law. The Chancery had jurisdiction over all matters of equity, including trusts, land law, the administration of the estates of lunatics and the guardianship of infants. The Davidson County Chancery Court is the court of appeals for a number of administrative agencies, such as the Tennessee Department of TennCare, Tennessee Department of Labor, and the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, among many others.
Many affairs that necessitate the management of a corporation’s position workings are within the jurisdiction of Chancery Court. Chancery Court is a court of equity, as opposed to a court of law.
Most states don’t separate the types of legal cures available to litigants into equity and law the way that Delaware does. The latter are said to be rights and remedies in equity, because they are administered in courts of equity or chancery, or by proceedings in other courts analogous to those in courts of equity or chancery.
