What is play Therapy?
Play therapy is in general applied with children aged 3 through 11 and provides a way for them to convey their experiences and feelings through a natural, self-guided, self-healing process. To provide professional support for play therapy practitioners in countries which do not have an organization affiliated to PTI. Play therapy is a technique whereby the child’s natural means of expression, namely play is used as a therapeutic method to assist him/her in coping with emotional stress or trauma.
The teacher never expresses shock, argues teases, moralizes, or tells the child that his/her perceptions are incorrect. Play therapy refers to a method of psychotherapy with children in whom a therapist uses a child’s fantasies and the symbolic meanings of his or her play as a medium for understanding and communication with the child. Play Therapy has been accepted and acknowledged as an important and valued approach for working with children who have experienced trauma.
