What is trace heating?
Electric trace heating, also known as automobile heat tracing or surface heating, is a system used to assert or raise the temperature of pipes and vessels. Trace heating takes the form of an electrical constituent run in physical contact along the length of a pipe. Trace heating is a technique used to heat pipelines and related vessels or devices. This comparatively simple method of surface altering can be used on almost any type of pipe, from plastic to iron. Electric heat tracing is known for its relatively simple installation and low maintenance requirements.
Trace heating is also helpful for railroad piping systems, especially those located in very cold moods. It can also be used in industrial circumstances to keep chemicals, oil, or other products at the demanded temperature. For instance, productions such as wax and tar incline to congeal if conditions are too cold, so trace heating may be added to keep these materials soft and flowing. The pipe must then be covered with thermal insulation to retain heat losses from the pipe. Heat generated by the element then maintains the temperature of the pipe.
