National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna is the 18th NIT to come into being.
NIT Patna is soon to be afforded the status of Deemed University. The institute was named as Bihar College of Engineering Patna in 1924.The source of NIT Patna can be followed to 1886 when the Survey Training School was launched. NIT Patna has been announced as an Institute of National Importance by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD).NIT is affiliated to the Patna University for the aim of examinations and awarding degrees.
