Indian Olympic Association (IOA) is founded in 1987. Indian Olympic Association (IOA) plays a pivotal role in the selection and participation of Indian sportspersons in the Olympic Games likewise as in the important regional events like Commonwealth and Asian Games. The Indian Olympic Association is the body responsible for taking athletes to represent India at the Olympic Games and other international athletic meets and for managing the Indian teams at the events. IOA objects to protect and uphold the status of amateur sportsmen in India. It also promotes and grows the Olympic Movement of India. IOA also handles the Indian teams at the events. IOA maintains liaison among the Government of India and the sports federations and State Associations, which are either associated with it or accredited by it. The responsibility of the participation of sportspersons in the Olympic Games is contributed upon the Indian Olympic Association. Apart from the selection, the IOA decides the organization of several games at the national level.
