Directorate of Medical Education and Research supervises the working of 42 institutions Have as a part, be made up out of Medical and Dental Colleges, Teaching Hospitals and Health Units under its purview in order to achieve optimum academic standards. Promotion of research in institutions is encourages. Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Mumbai, Maharashtra conducts an entrance examination for admission in various post graduate dental streams offered by Dental Colleges in Maharashtra. The admission is made on the basis of PGDCET manage or control by D.M.E.R., Mumbai, and Maharashtra.

Eligibility Criteria for Post Graduate Degree Courses in MD/MS/Diploma courses is given below:
Nationality: Candidate must be an Indian National.
A candidate, who has passed final M.B.B.S. examination from a recognized medical college included in the Schedule of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 and situated in Maharashtra, affiliated to Non-Agricultural Universities established under Maharashtra Universities Act, 1994 or the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences Act, 1998 and who has obtained full registration either from the Medical Council of India or Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC) after completing one year compulsory rotating internship are eligible to apply for PGM-CET for Postgraduate degree or Diploma courses.

DMER PGM-CET Entrance Examination Pattern
PGM-CET paper is of three and half hours duration containing 300 multiple choice questions (MCQs).
There shall be no negative marking for wrong answers.
The Common Entrance Test shall be of the standard of MBBS Examination and shall cover all the subjects of MBBS Course.
