Children often develop fever, normally due to viral infections that clear up without treatment. Fever is idea to be part of the body’s natural defense mechanism. But a fever can occasionally be a sign of a more serious illness, such as severe bacterial infection (septicaemia), Urinary tract infection, pneumonia, and infectious disease. Fever isn’t an illness in itself, but is normally made by a viral or bacterial infection.

The body is fight incursive bacteria, or in the case of a viral fever, viruses. While most viral fevers go off on their own, some can signal a dangerous condition that needs immediate medical evaluation. Viral fevers accompany respiratory illnesses, severe colds, the flu and other viral illnesses. Sometimes parents never acquire the cause of a fever because it shows effectual at fighting the invading virus before it can fully manifest itself.
Symptoms in children
Fever
Severe headache
Vomiting
Dislikes bright lights
Stiff neck, muscle pain
Drowsy, confused, irritable
Treatment
Acetaminophen and ibuprofen can assist lower a fever and relieve going with discomfort. Because antibiotic drug treat bacterial infections, they are not dictated for viral fevers.

my 22 months old grand daughter (premature baby, given surfactant for RDS and had ventilator support for 4 days after birth) is having recurrent mild fever (100 to 101 F), once a week for the past one month. Her x- ray showed batches of pneumonitis and her blood test including CRP, TC, DC etc were normal, urine test also normal and mantoux test was negative. She was treated for suspected pnemonia (Though the Doctor was of the opinion that it is not pneumonia since the X-ray could not be corroborated with clinical symptoms). But for the occasional fever she is perfectively normal, active and takes normal food. Can anybody tell me the reason for the fever
