What is Anterior Cervical Discectomy?
Anterior cervical discectomy and fusion is a common surgical process to treat nerve root or spinal cord densification by decompressing the spinal cord and heart roots of the cervical spine in order to stabilize the represent vertebrae. Anterior cervical discectomy is also efficient in removing arthritic bone spurs pressing on a nerve and causing arm and hand pain.

Anterior cervical discectomy with fusion is an operation that involves relieving the pressure placed on nerve roots and/or the spinal cord by a herniated disc or bone spurs a condition referred to as nerve root compression. Anterior cervical discectomy root becomes inflamed and causes serious pain. The problem can also be caused by degenerative disc disease. The disc consists of about 80 % water.

Risks
There are forever risks with surgery. You may spring up internal bleeding or get an infection. Blood clots could form and lodge in the lungs, making it hard to breath. However, medical personnel are always alert for such complications, and know how to cure them.
