Eisenia Fetida
What is Eisenia Fetida?
Red Worms or Eisenia fetida are the most normally used and arguably the several kind of composting worm. Eisenia Fetida thrive in decomposition vegetation, compost, and manure; they are epigeal. They are seldom found in soil, instead like Lumbricus rubellus they prefer specify where other worms cannot survive. When approximately handled, they exude a pungent liquid, thus the specific name fetida meaning fetid. This is presumptively a defense.
Eisenia Fetida are almost related Eisenia andreiko, also concern to as E. fetida andrei. The only simple way of distinguishing them is that E. fetida is lighter in colour. Molecular analyses have confirmed their personal identity as separate species and breeding experiments have shown that they do not produce hybrids.
