Pulmonary Artery

What is Pulmonary Artery?
Pulmonary arteries carry blood from the heart to the lungs. The narrowing may occur in the main pulmonary artery and/or in the left or correctly pulmonary artery branches. In the human heart, the pulmonary artery begins at the base of the right ventricle. It then branches into two pulmonary arteries (left and right), which rescue de-oxygenated blood to the corresponding lung. Pulmonary arteries is characterised by dilute exercise tolerance. Severe forms, usually, have uncheerful prospect.

Symptoms of pulmonary artery

Shortness of breath
Fatigue
Heavy or rapid breathing
Rapid heart rate
Swelling in the feet, ankles, face, eyelids, and/or abdomen

PAs are thoroughly damaged or almost absent, greater corrective surgery measures might be required. Some of these, like the Fontan surgery, involve completely rerouting the heart’s circulatory patterns so that blood flows passively into the lungs and is not pumped to the lungs. In some instances, when one of the heart’s ventricles is very weak, the PA may be removed when the Fontan is performed since it is no longer requirement.
