What is Goldenrod?
The goldenrods are genus of flowering plants in the Family Asteraceae. The first known recorded use of goldenrod as a color name in English was in 1915. About 100 perennial species make up the genus Solidago, most being found in the meadows and pastures, along roads, trench and waste areas in North America.

There are a handful of species from each of Mexico, South America, and Eurasia. Some American kind have as well been insert into Europe some 250 years ago.

Goldenrods are easily recognized by their golden inflorescence with hundreds of small capitula, but some are spike-like and other have secondary racemes. Their alternate leaves are linear to lanceolate. Their margins are commonly exquisitely to sharp serrate. Propagation is by wind-propagate seed or by subsurface rhizomes. They form patches that are really vegetative clones of a single plant.
